Concert Road Diary (December 2023)

Since December, we’ve been posting short 1-minute-and-30-second Road Diaries of our concerts on Insta/Facebook, always accompanied by a text recounting these precious memories. But we know how everyone is overwhelmed with notifications from the thousand pages and accounts followed! It’s impossible to keep up or see all the posts from our favorite bands. Not to mention the die-hards who aren’t on social media (we envy you!).

So, please keep an eye on our blog articles on our website or read our monthly newsletters (when we take the time to write them…).

⭐ Dinner-Concert at the JOA Gérardmer Casino Restaurant ⭐

Back from the Vosges where the snow persisted! 😯 The last time we played for the @casino.joa.gerardmer was on June 21, 2018. We had been there two or three times before, each time at different spots in the Casino. This time we got to test the restaurant stage. Alex was thrilled because the acoustics are good. "I got my CD quality sound," he told us.

Unfortunately, there weren’t many people to enjoy the evening, but we did have a few ultra-interested couples who were delighted with the music. It was a very private concert. 😎

It’s quite likely we’ll return to play there. It will be a pleasure anyway (the welcome is always very good).

The day after the concert, I put together a little reel/short to gather some images (photos and videos) from our time at Gérardmer at the JOA Casino.

We’d like to share more mini-reports like this. But it’s not easy to take the time to film, take photos, while working (unloading, setting up equipment, sound check, changing/getting makeup done, eating, playing, short break, playing again, chatting with the audience and organizers, packing up equipment, reloading…). Even though we always try to arrive early, doing a report at the same time requires a lot of attention.

So thanks to the people (Pauline in this case 😘) who take the time to “shoot” us with their phones and send us these memories right away or tag us in their story. ♥

⭐ Winterlights - Day 1 ⭐

The first Christmas concert of this season took place at Place de Paris in Luxembourg City. We had to delay the start of the performance to 7:30 PM as we shared the stage with other performers. Despite this slight delay, the audience was there. They even sang with us until 9:10 PM.

In this summary in images of December 5, 2023, you’ll see the beautiful Place de Paris in Luxembourg City, completely decked out for Christmas with its huge decorated tree in the middle.

As every year, the musicians are set up at the top of the chalet. It’s the only concert where we could overlook the audience so much and thus see everyone!

Jean-François Willbot, the sound engineer who also handles the welcome, took some shots from below and backstage. The finale of this video is worth a look too 😉

⭐ Winterlights - Day 2 ⭐

And there it is, concert 2/3 done tonight! There were many more people than last time and some friendly reunions that were very nice ♥

⭐ Winterlights - Day 3 ⭐

Last selfie at the Christmas Market in Luxembourg City where we played three Tuesdays in a row. There were even more people than last time ^^ And in the 2nd image, you’ll find our frantic faces at the thought of having 1000 things to do before our departure to Montpellier… 😅 (like finishing mixing our latest Christmas song and editing the video!) We can do it!

In this little video, you’ll see mulled wine, churros, the audience waving, a tablet Alex is drying against the heater, us fooling around, Santa’s sleigh, Place de Paris empty of passersby and in the rain, and finally, our duo a bit tired from our long days far from over… ^^

Thank you very much to the City of Luxembourg for organizing this magnificent Christmas Market that dazzles the eyes and ears.

Huge kisses to everyone who came a long way to see us and our best regards to those who discovered us by chance.

We wish lots of strength to Jean-François the stage manager who will be there until the end of the festivities to welcome and manage the bands on site.

We hope to see you again next year with even more Christmas songs!
